You simply must check out our cuties Sam and Caitriona talking about how they’re adjusting to being noticed in the U.S., and the way they watched THE WEDDING OMG! I’ve decided I’m going to call it that from now on.

While I’ve been procrastinating working, I have also been perusing the virtual TREASURE TROVE of Outlander and Scotland related information over at Outlandish Observations. It’s AMAZING the amount of information she has about the books and the country over there — it’s pretty much an encyclopedia of anything ever referenced in the books, and more! If you look on the left column, you’ll find a list of events in the books that happen during the current month — SO COOL!

I MUST try these drinks from Outlander Kitchen for Thanksgiving and/or Yule and/or Hogmany: Highland Coffees! Yum!

Oh my GODS, fandom, I leave you alone for a couple of days, and you explode over the silliest things! Yes, the pic of Sam swimming and having fun in a pool somewhere in LA is very hot… But I really do NOT understand the freakout. These are the “topics” I’ve seen meltdowns over:

1.) Some people seem to be deluded into believing Sam and Cait are “together” in real life. Well, if that is true, IT’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. And it is DEFINITELY not a reason to freak out and accuse a man you don’t know of CHEATING on his co-star. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

and

2.) Others are EXTREMELY upset over… and I think I got this right from the gist of the conversation, that Sam is “theirs” or “ours” as a fandom, and they’re deluded into believing he should somehow be a monk if he’s not with them/us? IDEK with this one, it’s so fucking batshit.

That’s pretty much fandom, all right. You can see more and more how the stars start getting wary, withdrawing. More and more of the guano is hurled at them, and less of the respectful, SANE praise for their work, you’re not going to see them be so friendly and generous anymore, just to protect themselves. It really pisses me off.

So what do we get bombed on while we lament the lack of our favorite show today? Another of Sam’s favorites, Laphroaig. From their homepage:

I Am Sad That #Outlander Chatter Has Gone So Quiet. *sigh*

(I have no idea why this didn’t post yesterday, but… whatevs…)

I confess, I’m part of the radio… well, not complete silence, but mostly low static. We’ve all had to move on to other things, with only the occasional breakout of discussion, the posts of our favorite bloggers and podcasters who keep slogging along, and bits of news that either are re-posted, or leak out.

I still have that Frank post planned… I’m just not in a big hurry. Because… Frank.

Ooh, but here’s a cheerful note: Killing Time’s recap of Ep 108 (part 1) “Oh, There’s Frank” I mean, “Both Sides Now” is up!

Today’s Coping Whiskey is: TIMOROUS BEASTIE! I was looking for the ones Sam Heughan had listed as his favorites, but now I can’t find the note I made. So I picked this, despite never having had it, because I LOVE THE NAME!

Come on, how can you resist getting Clairenebriated on such adorable whiskey?

The name is inspired by Robert Burns famous Scots poem ‘To a Mouse’. And because I am that bored, how about the poem?

It’s really kind of profound and depressing, for a poem about a mouse. And in broad Scots, so it may take some time to understand.

Okay, as I said, mine too.

Seriously, I just started A Breath of Snow and Ashes (ABoSA for the n00bs), and plan to read the final two main books, then the short stories that I missed, then the Lord John books. THEN I have a really ambitious reading plan that I may or may not pull off in six months, if I plan on writing as well.

I don’t know how much people who read this blog really care about the process of writing, but if you want to follow around, stop on by Bloodthirsty Muses.

AWESOME NEWS for our beloved Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe! Their IMDB popularity is through the ROOF! Sam is NUMBER TWO!!!

I feel all proud and proprietary, like they’re actual friends of mine or something! LOL I feel like they are — they are so open and generous with their time and dealing with the insanity that is fandom and sudden fame. I just love them so much, and I’ll keep hoping for all the success they could ever dream of… with a minimum of suffering.

I’ve always wondered… what role does IMDB play in the industry itself? I can’t imagine it’s like a resume or catalog where a casting director is just cruising around looking for a type or something, is it?

Anyhoo… dinner to eat, writing to do. Maybe more later, because I can never really stop fangirling, no matter how much I say I will or can.

 

BAAAAAD NEWS FOR 2015 Scheduling for #Outlander @Starz Proves Themselves Clueless What to Do with a Popular TV Show.

Before the news that no one really cares about, the really REALLY bad news. Just how long hiatus will be.

Now, let me begin by saying that this is not a hiatus BETWEEN FULL SEASONS, this is the break between HALVES of a SINGLE season. I cannot thing of a better way for STARZ to waste the momentum that the buzz about this show has created so far. A BIG chunk of the audience who came in for casual viewing is going to forget, or lose track of where it is on the schedule. I have done this — not for shows I’m INSANE about, of course, but for shows that I stumbled on that I was like, “Oh, this is pretty awesome. I think I’ll keep watching this.” Then I’ll run into it halfway through the next season, or in reruns after it’s cancelled, or when it comes up on Netflix, and go, “Huh. I forgot about this show. Shame it got cancelled. It was pretty good.”

A SIX MONTH HIATUS BETWEEN *PARTS* OF A SEASON? Is just not going to fly. April 4, 2015 is what I saw on Twitter today. Who’s dumbass idea was that? I hope RDM had a frickin hissy fit, because that is just HARPOONING his baby. Not to mention the fact that fandom could very well EAT ITSELF in six months. I just… I’m an old TV Geek vet, and I’m seriously stunned! I can’t even guarantee that I will come back in SIX MONTHS. No matter how much I love this show.

And to leave it for six months ON A CLIFFHANGER? FUCK YOU, STARZ. Seriously.

STARZ is obviously run by a large room full of morons. Are we sure they weren’t already bought by Fox?

Ugh. I am so completely just… furious. I have to leave off any sort of fan activity for the day.

1. I was blown away last night. Seriously. The Garrison Commander might be one of the most moving, chilling, all around FANTASTIC hours of television I have ever seen. I was seriously just left weary and replete, creeped out and comforted by the whole thing.

2. @TobiasMenzies SERIOUSLY NEEDS AN EMMY LIKE, RIGHT NOW. He was nothing less than frakkin’ FANTASTIC as Jack.
